I was in Edmonton last weekend, attending a trade show. Whenever I'm in the city I like to pop by a couple of the antique malls in town. In one of the malls I found this beautiful Bell pump organ.

The Bell company was a major manufacturer of organs and pianos. They were located in Guelph, Ontario. I've managed to date this organ at around 1910.

I've seen a number of Bell organs in the last 10 years or so, but this is by far the nicest example I've seen. It's all original, and had new bellows and bellow straps installed about 20 years ago. I plays well. The stops are missing a few labels, but I think I can find some on e-Bay.

I talked with some of the instructors in our carpentry program, and they figure they can repair some blemishes on the top board by sanding the clear finish and re-clearing it.

I'm really happy with this organ. It's a beautiful piece of furniture.

Now all I have to do is learn how to play it!

Cheers!

Craig
