Fiberoptic Flower Posted by: antstep3454
Date Posted: November 21, 2007, 11:00pm
Hello, i was wondering if anybody here has any (or knows where to get any) fiberoptic-type flower lamps. I was looking at some old "Lava Lite" catalog pages in some other old post and it showed a fiberoptic color changing lamp that looked like a flower. There were many different ones. Thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving!                   P.S. for those of you who live in the uk thanksgiving is a different time for you i think so if this is a day late that is why.

Thanks I sent email's to both lavaworld and End of the Rainbow for possible parts.

If I have to go the route of the glass maker can someone provide a couple of dimensions for me as I did not measure anything  before I broke it.

The height of the glass candle?
The widest diameter part of the glass candle?
The top rim diameter of the glass candle?
The bottom diameter of the glass candle?

Thanks again for any help

I am selling up my small amount of lavaworld lamps:

Hey Coolsox - i knew you were interested in this lamp, they are hard to come by from what i heard, so i was surprised when i saw this at a carboot sale with a wave machine bundled with it.

I love wave machines but sadly after a few months the wave machine started to make funny noises and then now stopped working This is a chinese made lavaworld wave machine  . It was a green one.

Anyways i have put some images here - please email me at the usual address if you are still interested in the lamp.

oh it comes with an american plug so it will need a step down transformer.

I can put you in touch with the glass people if you wish, they are a tiny glass factory which specialises in producing glass for chemical labs and produce glass to exact dimensions. They also do antique restoration. A part like that could be sent in the mail and you can send them a technical drawing by mail. But there should be someone who does this stuff near you.

best wishes,

'baby.

This is so easy to repair: all you need is a v like shape piece of glass like a fliter funnel (with the hole for air circulation) turned upside down and a hole placed on the side of the glass. Calculate the diameter of the base where it would sit onto the metal stand and then calculate the diameter that it would sit on the bottle and take the design to a glass factory. It would cost peanuts to do.

on this timeline Jonas, Craig and i made up, you see a happy continental how it should be:

best wishes,

I know it's a longshot, but you have nothing to lose.  You should email Lava World asking if they have any extra bases in storage or know where you could get some.  The email is: infomaster@lavaworld.com
Also, email Pam at End of the Rainbow.  She has helped me find a few parts.  The email is GIGOUS@aol.com

The glass is clear or a little frosted and yes it is pineapple looking. And sorry there is not much left to the glass for the candle, so not much to take detailed measurements. I will keep looking for something to work. Thanks for the reply's

I really want to see what this lamp looks like in an actual picture?  I can't help but think the chrome will have a fake look.  Nothing like the year 2000 chrome.

the 2000 chrome was like regular silver chrome right? I think this one is more like a gun metal chrome. Which has a darker black chrome  look to it. I think the lamp will look nice, But we shall see. I'm sure the base and cap will rock but the globe will suck like all china globes do.

Hey did anyone save the images of the boxes - i was gonna use it for the lazylavalamp timeline. i'd be grateful if anyone could pass the images of the boxes from the auction, not often you seem them boxed up. I think the packaging is kind of neat - it is squarish and very much like the lamp iteself.

best wishes,

baby.

I'd contact a glass blower - i know the people who would be repair and restore glass and produce identical glass parts but they are in england - if you could make a technical drawing of what you needed they would be happy to help you.

best wishes,

baby.
